<p><strong>Job Title: Senior Scientist- Coating- Coating Development</strong></p><p><strong>Company: Aditya Birla Science &amp; Technology (Corporate R&amp;D)</strong></p><p><strong> Location: Taloja, Navi Mumbai</strong></p><p><strong> Work Model: Work from Office (Mon–Fri)</strong></p><p><strong> Experience: 3-5 years</strong></p><p><strong>Joining: Immediate to 30 days preferred</strong></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Aditya Birla Science &amp; Technology Company (ABSTC), the Corporate R&amp;D Centre of Aditya Birla Group, is looking for a passionate and innovation-driven professional in the field of advanced coatings and battery materials.</p><p>This role offers an opportunity to work on next-generation coating technologies, conductive materials, and polymeric binders for Li-ion and Na-ion battery applications, while collaborating with leading researchers, production teams, and external research partners.</p><p>Role Overview</p><p>The incumbent will be responsible for research, formulation development, characterization, and scale-up of advanced coating systems and polymeric binder technologies for energy storage applications. The role involves both laboratory and pilot-scale development activities with a strong focus on innovation, process integration, and technical problem-solving.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Develop conductive coatings for aluminum and copper foils used in Li-ion and Na-ion batteries.</li><li>Design and develop advanced binder systems for cathode, anode, and solid-state battery applications.</li><li>Conduct literature surveys and technology benchmarking on advanced coating and dispersion systems.</li><li>Develop water- and solvent-based slurry/coating formulations and optimize rheological and curing properties.</li><li>Lead laboratory and pilot-scale coating trials and collaborate with coating line and production teams for implementation.</li><li>Perform coating characterization and analytical evaluation using advanced techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, FTIR, NMR, HPLC, etc.</li><li>Collaborate with internal ABG R&amp;D teams, academic institutes, and external research laboratories.</li><li>Prepare technical reports, research proposals, publications, and patent/IPR documentation.</li><li>Stay updated on emerging technologies through conferences, seminars, customer visits, and industry interactions.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills &amp; Experience</strong></p><ul><li>2–5 years of relevant experience in polymer binders, coatings, dispersions, and slurry development on metallic substrates, preferably in battery or energy storage applications.</li><li>Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, and coating technologies.</li><li>Hands-on experience in coating formulation, rheology studies, curing/crosslinking processes, and coating characterization methods.</li><li>Experience in physical and analytical testing including adhesion, corrosion, abrasion, spectroscopy, microscopy, and chromatography techniques.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple research projects and deliver within timelines.</li><li>Strong awareness of laboratory safety practices and environmental standards.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Expertise</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in Li-ion/Na-ion battery materials and separator coatings.</li><li>Exposure to roll-to-roll coating technologies such as slot-die, gravure, and offset coating.</li><li>Knowledge of conductive materials such as CNTs, graphene, and carbon black.</li><li>Understanding of ceramic and hybrid coatings for battery separator applications.</li><li>Exposure to industrial R&amp;D environments and technology commercialization.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Educational Qualification</strong></p><ul><li>Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related disciplines with 2+ years of relevant experience</li><li>OR</li><li>M.Tech./M.S. in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related disciplines with 5+ years of relevant experience</li></ul><p><br></p><p>If you are passionate about advanced materials, sustainable energy technologies, and applied industrial research, we would be excited to connect with you.</p><p><br></p>
