This is a unique opportunity to apply your legal expertise at scale, combining Environment &amp; Planning knowledge, legal writing, and emerging AI-enabled content tools to support the way lawyers work today and into the future.<br><br></strong><strong>Locations: </strong>Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane | Hybrid | 2-3 days in office<br><br><strong>About The Company<br><br></strong>This is an exciting opportunity to work for LexisNexis, a global organisation that provides world-class content and leading-edge technology and software tools, allowing our customers to quickly find the answers they are searching for, and to advance the rule of law.<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>We are looking for a talented and motivated Environmental &amp; Planning lawyer to join the Practical Guidance team at LexisNexis on a full-time basis.<br><br>The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain high quality, up-to-date, practical legal content on Environment &amp; Planning law, with an increasing focus on optimising and enhancing content for our cutting-edge AI-powered legal workflow and research solutions.<br><br><strong>Role<br><br></strong>You will play a key role in shaping how lawyers interact with Practical Guidance, Australia’s most established and trusted ‘how-to’ of legal practice, by:<br><br><ul><li>Creating, reviewing and maintaining plain English, workflow driven Environment &amp; Planning content</li><li>Using AI assisted tools to improve speed, consistency and usability of content</li><li>Working closely with technology, product and editorial teams to embed legal expertise into AI enabled legal solutions</li><li>Ensuring content reflects real world legal practice, market developments and emerging trends</li><li>Provide support to help build brand awareness and influence market share across clients and stakeholders.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>3+ years PQE in Australian legal practice</li><li>Experience as a practicing environment and planning lawyer in Victoria, NSW or Queensland</li><li>Litigation experience is advantageous. This is in relevant specialist environmental, planning and/or land courts and tribunals (particularly in relation to planning and development appeals)</li><li>Strong knowledge of planning, development and environmental regulatory frameworks</li><li>Experience advising on administrative, environmental, planning and local government law</li><li>Excellent communication and plain-English writing skills</li><li>Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills</li><li>Aptitude for building and fostering relationships with a range of diverse clients and local and international stakeholders<br><br></li></ul><strong>Desirable Experience<br><br></strong>Experience in <strong>one</strong> or more of the following areas would be advantageous:<br><br><ul><li>Transactional experience advising on environmental and planning law issues, including legal due diligence</li><li>Land use planning, zoning and development assessment</li><li>Environmental and planning approvals and referrals, including under the EPBC Act</li><li>Waste law and circular economy</li><li>Biodiversity, heritage or vegetation clearing issues</li><li>Renewable energy projects</li><li>Judicial review or merits review proceedings</li><li>Climate change, ESG or sustainability-related legal issues<br><br></li></ul><strong>Work in a way that works for you<br><br></strong>We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation.
