Head of Development

<p><strong>Head of Development – Germany</strong></p><p>Berlin (Hybrid)</p><p><br></p><p>An established European renewable energy IPP, backed by long-term investment capital, is seeking a Head of Development to lead and scale its German development platform.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for managing a growing pipeline of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects, whilst supporting the continued expansion of the business across Germany.</p><p><br></p><p>Working closely with the Managing Director Germany and the wider European leadership team, you will lead development activities, manage key co-development partnerships, and oversee projects from origination through to ready-to-build and financial close.</p><p><br></p><p>The business currently has approximately 1GW of development pipeline across Germany, with projects approaching energisation and a significant pipeline of battery storage opportunities under development.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Focus Areas</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and develop the German development function, providing both strategic and day-to-day leadership.</li><li>Manage and mentor a team of project developers whilst supporting future growth of the organisation.</li><li>Take ownership of the German project pipeline across solar PV and battery energy storage projects.</li><li>Drive projects through permitting, planning, land acquisition, grid connection, and development milestones.</li><li>Manage and strengthen relationships with co-development partners across Germany.</li><li>Work closely with engineering, grid, construction, finance, and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.</li><li>Identify and assess new development opportunities, particularly within the rapidly evolving German BESS market.</li><li>Evaluate opportunities arising from grid reforms, market changes, and emerging flexibility requirements.</li><li>Support project acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic growth initiatives where appropriate.</li><li>Monitor development risks and implement mitigation strategies to maximise project value and certainty of delivery.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Background </strong></p><ul><li>Significant experience in renewable energy project development within Germany.</li><li>Proven track record of delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects through key development milestones and ideally to financial close.</li><li>Strong understanding of solar PV project development and permitting processes.</li><li>Experience within battery energy storage systems (BESS) development is highly desirable.</li><li>Commercial understanding of project economics, grid strategy, and revenue opportunities.</li><li>Experience managing external development partners, consultants, and stakeholders.</li><li>Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mobilise both internal and external teams</li><li>Individuals who can combine strategic leadership with a hands-on approach to project delivery</li><li>Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.</li><li>Fluent German and English.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Why Consider This Opportunity?</strong></p><ul><li>Senior leadership role within a rapidly growing European IPP.</li><li>Direct influence on the growth and strategy of the German business.</li><li>Opportunity to manage a substantial and expanding development pipeline.</li><li>Exposure to both utility-scale solar PV and large-scale battery storage projects.</li><li>Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture with significant autonomy.</li><li>Clear growth ambitions across Germany and wider Europe.</li><li>Competitive senior compensation package including bonus and long-term incentive potential.</li><li>Berlin-based position with flexible working arrangements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Apply below to learn more!</strong></p>
